What is Therapy About and Will it Work For me?

 

Counseling is often referred to as "talk therapy".   The purpose is to help you understand behaviors, emotions, and ideas that may be problematic and learn ways to cope, modify and improve the balance in your life. 

Your reasons for attending counseling may be as unique as you are, however, there are some common concerns that often bring people to counseling.  They include:

  • Feeling overwhelmed with life 

  • Difficulty making decisions

  • Being anxious at home, school, in relationships, or in public settings

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Feeling like a failure

  • Feeling empty

  • Difficulties communicating in relationships

  • and many more 

Anyone can be successful in therapy.  Therapy is hard and at times painful work and you do have to work for it!  Fortunately,  you are not alone in this journey and when working with someone who connects with you and allows you to feel heard and understood you can feel relief, hope, and change.
